Communicating Inclusion Leadership Program (CILP)

Program Description

Upon the successful completion of the Voice Share Inc. Communicating Inclusion Leadership Program, each participant will possess the skills and knowledge to apply the concepts, strategies, techniques, and tools to their work environment to create inclusive work conditions with improved communication between co-workers in their peer and supervisory relationships.

This integrated nature of this training is unique for teams and organizations that desire improvements in inclusive leadership and effective communication. Successful participants will become proficient in two skill sets that are in high demand in the current employment marketplace – effective communication and diversity and inclusion.

Having employees with this specialized knowledge will boost the organization’s ability to: manage ambiguity; openly address misunderstandings and microaggressions between colleagues; build camaraderie; and resolve interpersonal conflicts to maintain efficiency, effectiveness, team cohesion, and the ability to collaborate to create improved financial results and/or sociocultural impact.

Module 1 – Speak Without Apology
    Introduce the concept of “sabofrauding”
You are the expert on YOU. Work through negative self-talk about your “expertise” to speak confidently in front of others. Stop apologizing before you open your mouth to share. Learn to own your story, live into the reality of who you are and what you can contribute, and stop the constant sabofrauding of the value of your own experiences and contributions.

Module 2 – Your Nerves as Your Catalyst for Excellence
Introduce the concept of “subtle frenzy”
    • Embrace the idea that when addressing an audience, nerves are a necessary indicator of your level of engagement, care and respect for others. In short, if you didn’t have them, you probably shouldn’t be up there doing it. Focus your nervous energy in a productive direction using subtle frenzy as your talisman. Every voice has value. Harness your butterflies so that your words take flight.

Module 3 – How Body Language Impacts Your Message
Introduce the concept of “unconscious signals and static”
Your body speaks fluent English. Are your lips, hips and fingertips in synch? What are you really saying to listeners with the way you engage their senses of sight and smell, as well as hearing? Uncover your unconscious signals and static that support or contradict the words coming out of your mouth and tune them to transmit your messages more clearly.

    Activities & Exercises
Work through activities about speaking without apology, energetic focus and the five senseless screw-ups
    • Complete the Overthrow Imposter Syndrome exercise
    • Complete the Butterflies in a Harness exercise
    • Complete the Lips, Hips & Fingertips Synch exercise

Module 4 – Drill to Your Core to Find the Source of Your Why
Introduce the concept of “principal principle”
Have you ever needed to share an idea, but you didn’t know how to create a key message? Every great story-building exercise breaks down a concept to a core lesson and then, through a novel approach, constructs a powerful message. The process of asking questions leads you to your principal principle and a deeper understanding of the lessons of your story.

Module 5 – Why Great Stories Stick
Introduce the concept of “adhesive attitude”
The term “stickiness” refers to a measure of how well people receive, retain and respond to the lessons and themes of great stories. Discover the principles of stickiness, how to use them to hone your storytelling abilities, and why adopting an adhesive attitude in your story-building approach makes you stick in the collective imaginations of all who hear your words.

Module 6 – Calibrate & Amplify Your Delivery
Introduce the concept of the “path of best persistence”
Once you know the core lesson you want to convey and how to make it stick in the minds of others, you’ve got to make it happen. The key is to determine which delivery approach is best for your current situation. Learn how to choose the path of best persistence that will demonstrate your undeniable value, leave an enduring impression and maximize your impact.

Module 7 – Feed Your Audience Content They Will Devour
Introduce the concept of the “relevance test”
Sharing the wrong message with the wrong audience is like serving steak to a vegan – unwelcome and ineffective. What you share will only have a positive impact if people want it or need it. Fail the relevance test and it’s all downhill from there. We can show you how to determine the best kind of content to deliver to the right kind of audience and nail it every time.

Module 8 – Create a Content Flow that Closes the Deal
Introduce the concept of the “logical unfolding”
The order in which you deliver content can reveal as much as the literal meanings of words and phrases. Like Perry Mason leading a witness with pointed questions that unmask the real culprit, learn to frame your ideas for your audiences with skilled conviction. See how the flow of a logical unfolding can disarm skeptics, ignite believers and amplify your success.

Module 9 – Weave Your Case into a Compelling Storyline
Introduce the concept of a “textile takeaway”
    • A presentation built on a principled, relevant and memorable foundation still requires a strong storyline to pull it all together. People need something to hold onto while you guide them through key facts, anecdotes, observations and earned wisdom. Learn to weave textile takeaways with the strands of your content so that you can confidently convey to others the message threaded into your cohesively constructed story.

    Activities & Exercises
Work through activities about directive questioning and answering, anchoring an audience in your story and effective vs. ineffective content

Module 10 – The Motivations of Our Reptilian Brains
Introduce the concept of the “lizard wizard”
Part of your brain traces back over 5 million years to reptilian ancestors of present-day humans. It drives much of our decision-making and responds to stimulation in primitive ways that are highly predictable. Learn the basics of how and why we make our choices to become a lizard wizard, capable of shaping and directing the responses of others to achieve the extraordinary results you need.

Module 11 – Maximize Your Message Potency
Introduce the concept of “how you brew your TEA”
How effectively vital information is received by an audience is the key component of successfully presenting your message. Like a good cup of tea, your message is steeped in potency & flavour that’s directly proportional to how skillfully it’s been prepared. We will discover methods and techniques to improve how you brew your TEA so that you deliver topical, engaging and actionable information every time you share your voice.

Module 12 – The Posture of Motivating Action
Introduce the concept of the “message mantle”
Expert communicators move the masses and spur them to strive for greater success. By skilfully delivering your message while leveraging the power of story, you are capable of motivating others to take positive and decisive action. Step forward and assume your message mantle while projecting confidence, calm and charisma in your posture as you persuasively address those who need to receive your message.

One of your most challenging tasks is to successfully share negatively perceived, difficult and/or outside-the-box perspectives with others. Using strength and empathy simultaneously, develop the extrinsic bedside manner that helps people digest discomfort and overcome limitations to take action with passion and purpose.

Module 14 – Take Stock, Exchange Your Investments
Introduce the concept of “swap strength”
The only thing that is constant is change. The ability to adapt to unanticipated circumstances is a key component for success in any endeavour of importance. Learn to cultivate and develop this quality to help guide you through any adversity.

Introduce the concept of a “transformed vocal identity”
The ability to present unforgettably using novel approaches, nourishing content and empowering messages requires mental toughness coupled with clarity of mind and purpose. As the final step in the process of finding your voice, confirm the transformed vocal identity that you own and can now powerfully share with the world.
